Snakes have a deep and complex mind, but if they love, they love with their entire heart.


Remember, Chinese new year begins in February, so if you have a January birthday, you will be the zodiac for the year before. i.e my birthday is January 1978, so I am a snake not a horse. Some say, the further through the year you are, the stronger the qualities of the animal.

Personality

Snake carries the meanings of malevolence, cattiness and mystery, as well as acumen and divination. In some places, people believe that a Snake found in their court can bring delight. However, in most cases, this animal is considered evil, which scares people from the bottom of the heart. There are some idioms in China indicating the danger of this animal, for example, once bitten by the Snake twice shy of ten years.


Strengths: Soft-spoken, humorous, sympathetic, determined, passionate, smart. Weaknesses: Jealous, suspicious, sly, fickle, nonchalant.


Usually, people regard Snake as a cunning and sly animal, which likes hanging out in darkness. In fact, this animal is also a symbol of wisdom and wit. Chinese Legend of the Snake

The Snake is the sixth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Because of their similar looks, Snake and Dragon were good friends. They arrived at the same time. But unfortunately, due to the size difference, the Jade Emperor first saw Dragon, and then Snake.


Snakes usually have a negative diction and are symbols of witchcraft. However, Nǚ Wā (女娲), the creator of the world in Chinese mythology, had a human’s head and a snake’s body.


Time of Day

The Snake is also associated with the Earthly Branch (地支—dì zhī) sì (巳), and the hours 9–11 in the morning.


In the terms of yin and yang (阴阳—yīn yáng), the Snake is yin (feminine energy).
