Remember, Chinese new year begins in February, so if you have a January birthday, you will be the zodiac for the year before. i.e my birthday is January 1978, so I am a snake not a horse. Some say, the further through the year you are, the stronger the qualities of the animal.

Chinese Legend of the Ram
The Ram is the eighth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Goat and Deer set off together, but they needed to cross a river. There were no boats available, so they had to swim across. The Deer couldn’t take it and gave up. Ram struggled on by himself and finally made it to the party as eighth place.
Ram (goat, or sheep) is among the animals that people like most. It is gentle and calm. Since ancient times, people have learned to use its fleece to make writing brushes and fur to keep warm. The white cute creature often reminds people of beautiful things.
